The BioProS consortium gathered at the Fraunhofer premises in Stuttgart for the project's Final Review Meeting, marking the successful completion of the BioProS project. The meeting brought together consortium partners, the Project Officer, and the Project Monitor to review the project's achievements and discuss its scientific and technological impact.



The day began with a live demonstration of the technologies developed throughout the project. Participants were able to experience the BioProS Flow Sensor (Galileo), developed by Microfluidics (MIC), hardware components and subsystems for the evaluation platform developed by Fraunhofer IPA, and the BioProS Evaluation Platform together with the BioProS Sensor presented by the University of Tübingen. The demonstrations illustrated how the individual technologies developed by the different project partners complement one another and interact to create an integrated solution for advanced bioprocess monitoring.



In the afternoon, each Work Package presented its objectives, activities, and final achievements. The review provided a comprehensive overview of the scientific progress made during the project, highlighting the close collaboration between partners from academia, research organisations, and industry. Discussions with the Project Officer and Project Monitor confirmed the successful completion of the project objectives and offered valuable reflections on the project's outcomes and future potential.


Key BioProS Results

Over the course of the project, the consortium developed several innovative technologies that address key challenges in viral-vector production and bioprocess monitoring:

  • BioProS Sensor – an integrated label-free biosensor for multiparametric, near-real-time monitoring of viral-vector production processes.

  • BioProS Evaluation Platform – an automated platform supporting biosensor development, assay optimisation, and validation.

  • BioProS Flow Sensor (Galileo) – a precision microfluidic flow sensor designed for seamless integration into automated laboratory and bioprocess systems.

Together, these technologies establish a comprehensive toolbox for improving process understanding, automation, and quality control in advanced biomanufacturing.


Looking Ahead

Although the BioProS project has officially reached its conclusion, its results will continue to provide a foundation for future research, technological development, and industrial application. The knowledge generated, the technologies developed, and the strong collaborative network established throughout the project create valuable opportunities for further innovation in biosensors, microfluidics, and automated bioprocessing.


The BioProS consortium would like to sincerely thank all project partners, the European Commission, the Project Officer, and the Project Monitor for their constructive collaboration, valuable feedback, and continuous support throughout the project.
